HOUSTON (AP)—Houston Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will miss the next two weeks to rest his sore left knee.
Follow up:
McGrady has missed 11 games, including the second game in Houston’s past four back-to-back sets. The seven-time All-Star had minor surgery on his knee in May and has struggled to regain strength in his left leg.
General manager Daryl Morey and coach Rick Adelman decided to keep McGrady out until he can fully recover.
“Tracy was not able to execute his standard preseason training regimen due to his offseason procedure,” Morey said. “He has been fighting through this in order to help the team get past a difficult early season schedule.”
The Rockets host the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. They will also play without Ron Artest, who’s missed four of the last five games with nagging pain in his sprained right ankle.
Artest (16 points) and McGrady (15.4 points) are Houston’s second and third-leading scorers, behind Yao Ming (19.5 ppg). McGrady leads the team with five assists per game.
URF Thoughts:
Many question our leaders strength. Our leaders conditioning. Our leaders want. McGrady, who is having a subpar season, will be out again. Whether it be coming in to play, or I should say not play, when put in OR taking every other game off, many experts question McGrady's superstarness.
I too question it. BOTTOM LINE --> If Tmac is taking two weeks off to rest or condition his ailments, then he better come back, not just strong but with heart. If at the end of the two weeks, he is still feeling unable to play, then I suggest he takes off until he is 100%. There should be no time table, because with his history, putting a timetable of when he will be back usually ends with the disappointment with his play. Title should read, "McGrady out until Healthy."
